The UX Process

User Centered Design
User Centered Design

User Experience is the first consideration in web design. It is very important to be as thorough as possible during stake holder and user interviews. It is also key to not create a polished design during this process. A polished design bogs the stake holder down on specific colors or photos or User Interface elements that are not relevant at this stage.

  1. Research specific to client – their industry, competitors, peers
  2. Stake holder interviews – any analytics the stake holders may have and getting a grasp of who the client is and their goals and expectations
  3. Analysis of stake holder interview insights
  4. Potential and current user interviews – what makes the user tick? What needs do they have and what pain points are they encountering
  5. Analysis of user interview insights – set up characteristics based on insights from interviews and see where traits and behaviors are grouping together
  6. Create Personas – It may happen that the data boils down to one main persona. Or it may happen that there are multiple personas to design for. In this case we boiled all data down to one persona… Meet Jackie Dempsey
  7. Develop title scenarios that each persona may encounter
  8. Brainstorm different design solutions to solve the users problem
  9. Create storyboards and wire frames that address the specific scenario

The slideshow below will take you through the story board my team developed for our client. Remember, this is not the time for polish. Keeping everything very rough allows the stake holders to engage without feeling that they are making final decisions..
